Let There Be Drums

Country Fried Deliciousness

This dish served in Yilan consisted of fried ham...Yes, FRIED HAM, complemented with a dish of MSG....FOR DIPPING.
It was delicious of course but I cringed a little as I ate it....all of it.

Seeking A Tactful English Translator

"Timed Release Formula"
There are just too many negative connotations of the word 'retard' to allow it to be used on a product.
Timed Release Formula.... How's that?!

Danshui by Day

Heavy clouds drift over Danshui on an undecidedly sunny day.  A cloud burst far off in the distance. Fishermen worked the waters nearby with little luck as tourists and elementary school children walked past.

An Acquired Taste

Testing out the power of the Miracle Berry with a lime. The small red berries alter your perception of sour foods..so much so that limes will taste like a way overly sweetened lemonade. (The aloe vera leaf was to treat the nasty sunburn I got while fishing.)

Roast chicken bento from Emperor Foods. Their food is overpriced and the service is definitely not friendly but that's the cost of consistently delicious food.

Do what now?

A most unfortunate spelling of the word "rope" at the VieShow Plaza.

The Chocolate Cake of Chocolate Cakes in Taipei

This delicious cake is from the Pozzo Bakery in the San Want Hotel on Zhongxiao East Rd. in Taipei. I must say, after sampling various chocolate cakes around town, this has to be my favorite. It has a creamy set of layers in between soft chocolate sponge. The outside is a robust chocolate ganache which adds to the cake's awesomeness.

First Post! Random Taiwanese Flower

One of my first shots after I came to Taiwan. These flowers (don't exactly know the name) held up quite well through the rainy season and into the warmer season. Notice the hole in the center? Butterflies will insert their proboscises deep into the hole and suck out the nectar. It's quite fascinating to watch.
